In this week's workshop, we were required to watch a traditional Aboriginal story from a selection provided by the ABC network site. the site was called 'Dust Echoes' and is a wonderful classroom resource that may enable students to explore the cultural entities of film, story, ICT and literacy components associated with the teacher resources section of the website. Our task was to re-write the story using text and graphics. the programs i needed to recreate the above story were MS Paint, Adobe Reade and Inspiration. the task required i used prior knowledge of the programs and functions of the computer, such as using 'print screen' and paint in order to retrieve the graphics to then use in Inspiration to bring my story together. in the Inspiration program i included text behind each picture that outlined the story, unfortunately these are not able to be retrieved from the blog copy of the Inspiration picture. this task required a literary ability of reading, understanding and rewriting text and/or stories; it supported creative exploration of design and presentation; all tied into technological awareness and skill of navigating applications and bringing different applications togetjher to create the desired outcome. a terrific learning experience for higher skill students in primary school.
